The only major change in version 1.5c is that I have added compatibility with the Hewlett Packard DeskWriter printer. After receiving numerous messages from users who purchased the DeskWriter printer that Easy Envelopes Plus didn’t work with it (and after tearing my hair out for a while trying to figure out why), I ordered a DeskWriter printer so that I could fix the problem, and also because I needed a replacement for my ImageWriter printer.
I must say that I am amazed with the quality of the DeskWriter. For under $1,000.00, I purchased the printer and Adobe’s Type Manager Plus package (the same 35 fonts that come with the LaserWriter ][’s), and I couldn’t be more pleased. I have worked with LaserWriter’s before, and the DeskWriter’s print quality is actually a good deal better, especially in crisp edges and dark blacks.
I ordered Adobe’s Type Manager because although the HP DeskWriter comes with scalable outline fonts, I wanted the ability to view smooth fonts on screen, as well as access to Adobe’s complete type library. The combination is truly unbeatable. I would recommend the DeskWriter and Adobe’s Type Manager to anyone out there who has an ImageWriter, wants better print quality, but can’t justify the cost of a LaserWriter. The DeskWriter has been quiet, fast, and the print quality actually looks better than some laser printers I have seen.
